What is an online business listing?
An online business listing is a data management tool for each of your brick-and-mortar establishments. It includes your company's general business information, telephone number, street address, URL, email address, directions, maps and anything else you would like customers to know about you.
You probably already have online listings and may not know it-every registered business with a physical street address has one. Your current listings were generated by overseas data entry personnel. These individuals are given the master yellow pages list and charged with entering only the most basic information. That's why online business profiles are often inaccurate, outdated and rudimentary. These anonymous individuals aren't concerned with your business. But we are!
And we know how to make your business listings get noticed, too. There are sections of online listings that allow you to include promotional videos, photographs, coupons and customer reviews. Reviews and ratings are essential-potential customers place a great deal of trust in the opinion of other consumers; therefore, this feedback can be extremely helpful for securing conversions, inspiring purchases and driving foot or phone traffic to your physical locations.
Why do you need our online data management services?
Local search grew 58 percent in 2008, reaching an annual total of 15.7 billion searches. That’s 12 percent of core searches on the top five portals!* The individuals doing these searches are often looking for a local car dealership or a storage facility close to home. We help these local searchers find your proximal business. Local searchers are able to learn everything they need to know about your business-general info, phone numbers, street and email addresses, directions, maps and even some feedback from previous customers. And once they've made contact or visited your establishment, these customers are more likely to frequent your business because of its convenient location and community aspect.

How do online business listings work?
Just provide us with any and all business information and we do the rest. It's that simple, really!
Where do people find my online business listings?
Online business listing results are pulled for geo-targeted searches on the following distribution channels:
- Mobile devices - cell phones, PDA browsers
- Search engines - Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask
- Internet yellow pages - Superpages, Switchboard
- GPS devices - TomTom, Magellan, OnStar
- Online directories and databases - InfoUSA, Acxiom, Amacai
- Google text - Goog411
- MSN 411 calls
These examples are just some of the numerous distribution channels on which people can find your listings. We also offer international syndication for companies with locations outside of the United States, and Hispanic distribution for those that target the U.S. Spanish-speaking population. We submit to unique distribution channels and provide data in both English and the native languages. Learn more about international syndication and Hispanic distribution.
How much is an online business listing going to run me?
Worried about paying an arm and a leg? This won't even cost you a finger and a toe! The fee is based on a one-time, per-location rate with a sliding scale for bulk submissions of multiple locations. Contact us for a custom quote for your business.
How long does it take for listings to go live?
It typically takes 60 days to see listings, depending on the distribution channel.
How do you develop my online business listing?
We take all your updated business information, incorporate relevant, high-volume phrases and distribute it to numerous search engines, directories, internet yellow pages and others. But it doesn't stop there—we continually optimize your listing’s content and format based on each distribution channel’s updates, and we monitor the listing to ensure it isn't being fraudulently altered. All in a day's work!
How can I submit?
We provide you with an easy-to-follow submission form. Just complete the form and we do the rest. It can't get much simpler than that!
What is a Web Exposure Report?
A Web Exposure Report shows where your current map listings display-on which engines, directories, etc. and at what positions-and what information can be found in your listings. This report will help you understand what customers see (or don't see!) in your listings.
If I am listed in the second spot on Google, how long will I stay there?
Real estate in the 10-pack is not guaranteed. The 10-pack refers to the ten listings displayed next to the map on Google's results page. If you're not in the 10-pack, you probably won't be found by searchers. That's why we conduct continuous management to ensure that you maintain high positions. Much like traditional SEO, frequently updated listings alert the engines that your company is alive and kicking. The engine's ultimate goal is to give customers exactly what they are looking for. A frequently updated listing appears to be more relevant and credible, earning the much-sought-after reward of higher local search positioning.
My company has 15 locations in one city; they won't all fit in Google's 10-pack. Which locations will be listed most prominently?
Google defines the city center and displays the store that is closest to that location. Say you own 20 flower shops in the Denver Metro area. One is located a block from Google's city center and the other 19 are scattered throughout suburbs and smaller neighborhoods. The city center location will be more prominent than the others for the search term "Denver florist." That's just the way it goes-we can't trump Google. However, we know that many people use other, more specific modifiers when searching locally, such as neighborhood names and zip codes. We would optimize the other listings for "florist Denver Highlands," "flower shop LoDo" or "florists 80218"-all of which are geo-modified terms for the Denver area.
How will I know if my updated map listings are working?
Through the use of analytics, we can help to quantify your investment by tracking which visitors came to your site by way of your map listing.† . But remember, due to the nature of map listings (many people simply call or visit your store, rather than click through to your site), analytics is limited in the information it can provide. Other ways to record success include using trackable phone numbers, offering unique promos or discounts in your map listings and simply asking customers how they found you. This way you can attribute sales or leads originating from the listings only, distinguishing them from your other forms of marketing. Check out a case study to see how well map listings work for one of our current clients.
